How To Always Look Like You’ve Just Stepped Out Of A Salon

3. Take Care While Brushing

You may be tempted to brush through damp hair. But however much of a rush you’re in, you should never do that! This is because your hair is at its most fragile when it is damp, and brushing aggressively can cause serious damage.

“The ends are already the oldest and most brittle parts of your hair, so by hacking at tangles you’re only creating more tension and breakage,” says Lawless. “Instead, use a metal-bristled brush and stop when you meet resistance. Gently roll the brush off, then begin brushing again, starting at the bottom.”

If you absolutely have to brush damp hair, use a wet hair comb that is designed for this purpose specifically. Brushing correctly not only prevents breakage, but it also helps distribute the natural hair oils that are secreted at the scalp all the way through your locks.
